Screwit!

I do want PR. It's ridiculous that I can't get it. Incredibly RIDICULOUS.

Some people have made suggestions (some crazy!) to me in 2007 and some have propositioned to help me out in some way. Here are some of them:

Marry a Malaysian

Easier said than done! Maybe I should put out an ad that reads:

Put myself up for adoption
So, does anybody need a sister? ("p)
Or perhaps does anybody need a daughter especially if you're household is too testosterone-permeated. I could probably put out an ad for this too:

Marry a Gay Malaysian
Anybody out there looking to please your parents? Hehe.
Go Low, Become a Ho
Somebody told me they knew a guy who could help me get PR easy, after all, he got a Chinese woman PR for 30 years. That's a long time! Later, I find out that the skank slept with the man...NEXT!

Thou Shalt Abandon Passion
A friend's mother decided to help me by setting up a meeting with her boss. She needed a PA, personal assistant/secretary, to take care of her son when she was away travelling and such. During the casual meeting, her boss just rubbed me the wrong way when he started talking about religion. He went on and on about he went to such and such a place, that even though he's not a Christian he knows the Bible and has read some of it, blah blah blah, yada yada yada.

The other thing that didn't appeal to me was the fact that I wouldn't be doing what I was interested in and if I did commit, I wouldn't be able to leave and do my own thing. I'd be bound to the company for a lifetime. So, no thanks, the pay may be high and get higher, but I can't be the best when I'm not doing what I love. There were many other little things about that meeting that didn't make me excited about working for them so in the end I just said no.

*sigh* Let's see if this year brings crazier suggestions and better propositions. Hehe. :)

8 opinion(s). Add one.:

I know what you are kinda going through. I've got 2 IDs, one is green and the other is red. The green is what ive got now, and its expired.. while the red IC is inactive. How i got 2 ICs? i lost it when i was 14, and i dont know why they never checked if ive got an existing IC, but now i've been trying for 9 years to get my IC fixed... and till today, i'm still trying.. so uhh.. you're not alone i guess hehehe.

Write letters, meet and disturb them constantly for your PR, but impress them wif ur bahasa malaysia as well coz it does help. They won't do anything unless you push them. Good luck!

hi zaheer, i thought it was red and blue ic's for malaysia?

Lore: there's 3 -

Green: Foreigner
Red: PR
Blue: Citizen

And oh God. I can so totally relate. Me - born in Malaysia, raised in Malaysia, schooled in Malaysia, spent most of my life in Malaysia. NOT A CITIZEN. I was born a foreigner, the family got permanent residency when I was about 7 (1991/2), they had to wait 12 years + any travel time overseas (we tacked on a year; we're keen travellers) to APPLY for citizenship - we did that in 2005 and now we're still waiting to hear of our status.

I wonder if any of the political parties running for elections today would even care about people in limbo like us.

Tiara,

Thanks! Didn't know there was a third IC.

Oh, if there are any political parties running for elections today who would even care about people in limbo like us, I'd so vote for them.

Oh. Wait. Here's the kicker. I'm not Malaysian so no vote from me.

Recently, I managed to convince the IC department that i deserve a red IC so, they issued me a receipt mentioning the change of status, from green to red. I guess this will probably take another 6 months, and then i dont know, probably another 10 years for a citizenship?

tiara, i think both of us are going thru the same shit. My mom got her citizenship after 30 years living in Malaysia, shes a doctor btw. I guess the most strongest point in obtaining a citizenship or PR, is your bahasa and your knowledge of this country. If you dont speak fluent bahasa, even though the ppl at IC dept actually speak english, they wont grant ur PR, because they feel that you're not serious in becoming "one of them".

It's funny sometimes ppl are shocked when i speak malay... i dont look malay or any of the races here, but i speak fluent malay.. so it really does help wif good command of bahasa. Btw, do you (tiara and lore) have an Entry Permit?

Tiara said...

zaheer: Since I'm a PR I no longer need an entry permit, though we did need to renew one every year before we became PRs.

Yeah, you need an entry permit to proof that you are officially a PR holder. If you lose it, then its gonna be a real mess, basically, as long as u have an entry permit, u can get a PR. It's the documents that count.
